You’ll Always be My Favourite “What If” by T Shree Blurb:
Amisha– “We started with a simple hello but ended with a complicated goodbye.”
I was in love with Avyansh, since the day that I could discern how it feels to be in love. I fell for him irrevocably much before meeting him. It was certain that we would be together one day. But destiny has a way of crushing us, by refusing what we deeply desire. So, despite all certainties and hopes we never crossed paths again after our first meeting.
I never got the opportunity to express my feelings & my love remained unrequited. Even after 15 long years he never left my mind and soul though I formally belonged to someone else now.
Avyansh- “Meeting you was one of the best accidents of my life. I wish I could go back to that moment, just to experience it all over again.”
What skipped my heartbeat on our first meeting was a mole on the upper side of her right lip. She didn’t need any makeup to entice a man, her mole was more than enough to be someone’s death.
I broke her heart over a phone call but today when we met after 15 long years, I wanted to turn back the clock and fix what I’d broken. It was my weakness that I could not treasure her. I am tired of hiding the truth and carrying this guilt for so many years. I know I tore her world apart with just my words but over the years not even a single day has passed, when I haven’t thought about the hurt & pain I caused her.

Time and words don’t fix everything; I moved on Hurt and Bruised My mind erased all your memories to start a new chapter, But my heart kept re-reading the Last one.”

Things I liked:
The initial three things that make up a reader’s mind about a book are all splendidly done in this book. It has a captivating cover, the blurb is engaging, and the title is intriguing.
The book is full of quotes worth highlighting that will strike a cord in your heart. Emotional, angsty, and lyrical, you will want to share them again and again.
My smile hides my pain when I say your name, I hope someday you will know no one misses you more than me.”
You’ll Always be My Favourite “What If” by T Shree Quote
She has a talent for writing poetry that you will notice as you read this romance. Each chapter starts with a lyrical quote that I actively saved for later!
I also loved the songs the author used to relate to events in the story. She uses songs in different languages and that is noteworthy.
No one is too old for a fairy tale.”
Sometimes Life gives us a Fairytale right when you’re about to lose hope You just have to keep knocking the woods; even miracles takes a little time…”

Things that could have been better:
I liked the premise of this book when I first heard about it. It promised an angsty, emotional, and memorable second chance romance. So, I jumped to read it. And while I loved a few things in the book, overall I think it was a miss for me. It had so much promise but the execution was not upto the mark.
The sentence construction needs work; and dialogues looked forced, artificial and rambled in places. Excessive and often incorrect use of words like “only” was irritating. So, I feel the need of another round of editing to rectify such mistakes for this book.
Characterisation:
Then the characterisation while all encompassing with protagonists, friends, relatives, exes all here, the development fell flat. I could not relate to any of the people including the protagonists.
For people who claim to have yearned and prayed for another chance at their love, the protagonists acted childishly and not for one second gave love the focus that they should have. Every thing is happening in the office and all through I felt a distinct lack of emotional development in their characters.
The heroine is childish, taking umbrage over every small thing. She is being all yearning and angsty in her mind but when she interacts with the hero, she is quick to take offence at every small thing. Like if the hero is busy with a client and didn’t notice her at a party, she is quick to curse him and walk away. I mean grow up, you are not three!
Then she tells her friends that she can’t disclose the hero’s secrets but then the next second does that. The author could have handled this part in so many other ways.
Supporting characters are also people who looked like cardboard cutouts.
Storytelling:
There is no challenge and obstacles in this romance. In the first 20-25% of the story the readers know almost everything. They profess their love for each other but then what are they waiting for? No one is stopping them to go to the next step of their love story.
The story drags on and on with no development. Same routine is repeated. They go to the office; heroine’s friends objectify the male bosses, gossip, and then drop by to gossip some more!
There is no familial pressure, no societal pressure, no peer pressure that is stopping Amisha and Avyansh from their happily-ever-after but still the story doesn’t end. For me the story could have easily ended in about 150+ pages because the only thing stopping them was already resolved by then.
Too much “telling” and not enough “showing” is another drawback of the narration. The story doesn’t flow. There is no development in it through events, dialogues, and actions. Everything is told to the readers.
This book is almost a clean romance with last minute sex scenes added that could easily have been avoided. The story did not need them to move forward.
Conclusion:
All in all, You’ll Always be My Favourite “What If” by T Shree is a romance that had so much potential but for now, it didn’t live upto expectations. The story dragged and the characters were flat. However, I loved the quotes in this book that touch on so many emotions that they will touch your romantic heart. So, for the beautiful quotes and the blurb, cover and title, I give this Indian romance 3 out of 5 stars.
T Shree is a new author who has talent and I look forward to reading more from her in the future.
