Omg! This book! I absolutely adored Twilight’s Temptation by Shilpa Suraj. After reading and falling in love with Avni, Diana, Sehar, Dev, Manav and Rishi in “Midnight’s Star“, I was so intrigued and eager to read Diana and Manav’s story. So, I jumped to read their story in Twilight’s Temptation, and I am so glad to tell you that it is every thing loveable and memorable!
Can you read this book as a standalone i.e without reading the previous book in the series?
Despite being part of a series, this book can be read as a standalone. However, like I always tell you, it is always best to read books in order so you don’t miss out on back stories and character development. So, same is true here. There is much that is carried over from the first book in “Shades of Night” series, “Midnight’s Star” which is the Avni and Dev’s story.
Things I loved:
Characterisation:
Manav and Diana are enemies but secretly they are attracted towards each other and fighting their attraction. Manav has secrets and past demons that torment him. And he thinks he is unworthy of exotic Diana. Whereas Diana is confused why Manav seems to despise her at sight!
It was so entertaining to watch these two fumble. There is hot chemistry, smouldering looks, witty banter, heartbreaking insecurities, and a memorable fight to get to their happy ending.
Diana and Manav are perfect together but so burdened by their insecurities, miscommunication, and past demons. Sometimes I wanted to shake them so they stopped being stupid and gave their feelings a shot. But then the next moment the author threw a twist that had me smiling, giggling, and swooning!
The friends trio of Avni, Diana and Sehar on one side, and Dev, Manav and Rishi on the other side added more depth and realism to the story. So, these are characters that have become like friends and will have the readers invested in their stories.
We also get to see more of Avni and Dev, and I sighed in pure happiness watching them be so happily in love after all the challenges they faced in the previous book.
Plot and narration:
Expertly plotted and beautifully narrated, I am in awe of Shilpa Suraj’s growth as an author. Having followed her right from her debut book, “The Girl He Left Behind“, she has blossomed as a writer and it shows in her books that have grown more and more engrossing. So, I definitely recommend all romance books by Shilpa Suraj.
The story flows fluidly and I sat engaged all through. So, unable to stop reading, I finished this book in one sitting with a huge smile on my face.
Favourite Book Quote:
I kissed him with all the hurt, pain and love in my heart…kissed him to tell him what I never would be able to if I used words. I kissed him to show him what we could be. And most of all, I kissed him to show him how far from nothing he was to me.”
Conclusion:
All in all, Twilight’s Temptation by Shilpa Suraj is an unputdownable enemies to lovers Indian romance with endearing characters, engaging story telling, and a romance that will have you swooning, giggling, and high-fiving in pure delight. So, 5 out of 5 super shiny stars to it and Njkinny recommends this must read romance to all romance lovers above the age of sixteen.
I am so excited to read the next book in this series which is Sehar and Rishi’s story in “Dawn’s Desire”. We got a tease in this book and I can’t wait to dive into it just as soon as I write this review. So, what are you waiting for? Go grab this book and the entire “Shades of Night” series now!
