Mango Showers by A. Victor Adharsh Book Tagline
Set in a small town in Kerala in India, Mango Showers by A. Victor Adharsh takes the readers to a scenic village where nothing is as it seems. Anna Zakaria is back to the secluded village of Kasaragod where she has come looking for her only brother. But her return is marked by the strange phenomenon of “Mango Showers” – rain in the midst of summer. Then her abnormal fear of floods is further aggravated when she is faced with real life flooding as her welcome to Kasaragod.
Mysterious things are happening and she is at the center of everything. Only her brother is her support. Then tensions and fear go up a notch when she faints during a Theyyam event which is a local event where everyone is present. Now a hot topic of speculation and rumours among the locals, can Anna unravel the mystery before it’s too late?
With a foreboding of impending doom hanging over the atmosphere, the author creates a world of sinister schemes, mind bending suspense, and danger with an unreliable protagonist who is struggling with her mental state.

When I first heard of this book, I was uncertain how I would like it. But the fact that it was set in India and that it had a most unique title made me give it a try. And I am so glad I read this immersive and riveting read!
Things I Liked:
In-depth Research of Settings. And expert implementation to create an edgy thriller.
The first thing that had me applauding the author is his indepth research of the settings, culture, and people. As soon as you get in, you feel a part of the story. It’s like a virtual tour of the beautiful town of Kasaragod. I learned so much about the customs, culture, daily life, and superstitions of the place. Then the expert way in which A. Victor Adharsh used his research to weave a nail-biting story of deceit, avarice, and psychological mind play is truly exceptional.
Loved this quote that talks about the importance of family and how we are losing out when we don’t put our faith in them.

Mango Showers by A. Victor Adharsh Book Quote
Immersive World Building.
The world that the author created is so realistic that you feel a part of it. Right from the beauty of the place to the effortless shift of it becoming menacing as needed by the story, everything is done is so fluidly that you can’t stop from feeling impressed.
Kerala’s “God’s Own Country” beauty is brought alive through A. Victor Adharsh’s dynamic storytelling. I had a most enjoyable visit to this mesmerizing Indian state right from the comfort of my sofa as I read this book.
Engrossing storytelling.
A. Victor Adharsh’s storytelling style is simple, a bit lyrical, and one that is fluid enough to engage all kinds of readers. Whether you are a novice reader or a veteran, you will enjoy the narration equally.
He starts with a bang with a first scene that will leave you hooked to know more. And then continues to keep the readers glued to the story, eagerly flipping the pages to know what happens next!
Well planned twists and turns with realistically flawed characters.
With a plot that seems straightforward but is anything but, I loved how the author gave this story his own flair. So, a story that had me feeling like I knew how it would end, I was so pleasantly surprised when it did actually reached the finale!
I also loved how admirably the author placed well-calculated twists and turns that added to my interest in the story.
I totally agreed with this quote!

Things that could be better:
While I enjoyed reading this engrossing thriller, there are a few things that I felt could be done better to increase the appeal of this promising book. First is the book cover. While it has a sinister and intriguing feel about it but still it doesn’t effectively gel with the book title nor does it give any hint to the story within.
Then second is the book blurb. It is ambiguous and doesn’t help the readers in understanding the story within. I couldn’t get any idea about what the story was about. This is a major flaw because most readers take help from the book blurb and cover to get a feel of the story. And pick up a book when it appeals to them. So, with a confusing cover and blurb this book fails to make readers stop to check this book out!
However, these are novice glitches that I hope the author takes note of to rectify in the future.
This beautiful book quote left me spellbound. And it so aptly sets the tone of this story!

Conclusion:
All in all, Mango Showers by A. Victor Adharsh is a promising book by a talented writer.
