Letters from Kargil by Diksha Dwivedi Book Quote
Box me up and ship me home,
Pin my medals all over my chest,
Tell my mom I did my best.”– William Timothy ‘Tim’ O’Brien
Diksha Dwivedi’s father was one of the martyrs of Kargil War. So, this book is a tribute to her father, and all the other brave soldiers who lost their lives in the war fighting for their country. Through letters written by the Kargil war soldiers to their families, Diksha brings out the fears, worries, danger, the determination and the patriotism of these brave men who fought against adverse odds to protect their country.
Letters from Kargil by Diksha Dwivedi Book Review:
Sometimes a book takes you out of your comfort zone to the harsh reality of the world. It takes you to stories of people who are sacrificing every thing – their comfort, their safety, and their families for a greater cause. And then makes you grateful for your peaceful and comfortable existence. While also making yo thankful for the sacrifices of such brave souls. And this is what Letters from Kargil by Diksha Dwivedi did to me.

Letters from Kargil by Diksha Dwivedi Book Quote
It made the Kargil War more real to me. I was very young when it happened. But I still remember the devastation, and tension of that time. Though what we, common citizens, still don’t grasp properly is the true horror and uncertainty of a war for a soldier, and their families. A war is more real, more close, and more devastating for them.
If in case it is the will of God that I have to close my eyes from this place, please take care of dad and mum. They should be made to understand that I have been taken from this life to another better life.”
Letters from Kargil by Diksha Dwivedi Book Quote
– Captain Neikezhakuo Kenguruse
Right from the first page, I was hooked, and teary eyed. An eight year old’s confusion, terror, and then heartbreak over losing her father who had always been a pillar for them had me openly crying.
Also each letter, and each story of a soldier is soul searing, and heartbreaking. You will experience the war through their eyes, will feel their fears, their pain, and then their bravery as they left everything they loved behind with one aim in mind – save their country.
Written simply, this book is perfect for every type of reader.
The Kargil War victory was a true testament to the patriotism and willingness of the soldiers to lay down their lives for their country.
"Had it not been for the willingness of soldiers like my father to die for their country, #OperationVijay, as the war was also called, would not have been a success." – #BookQuote Letters from Kargil #BookReview on #NjkinnysBlog… Share on XThe victory of the Indian army in the Kargil war in 1999 was based on a foundation of four factors courage, determination, junior leadership and destiny. Everything else worked against them from their positioning to their timing and preparations.

Had it not been for the willingness of soldiers like my father to die for their country, Operation Vijay, as the war was also called, would not have been a success.
For years I blamed my father for choosing the country over us. It is only recently that I have learnt to accept his sacrifice as a blessing.”
Conclusion:
I cried buckets of tears as I read this book, and what better day than today, “The Kargil Vijay Diwas” to review it. However, this book is not just for today but for every day and should be read by every Indian.
This book is a true tribute to soldiers who are willing to die for their country without a second’s doubt in mind.

When his commanding officer asked him,
‘How many of you are ready to die?’, he raised his hand without a second thought.
This soldier and countless others like him are the reason why Operation Vijay in 1999 was a success, why the Srinagar-Leh highway is safe and why Kargil district and the Siachen Glacier are parts of India today.”
