Every Breath You Take by Sapna Bhog Book Summary:
Rhea Sehgal has finally managed to overcome the trauma of a past devastating episode and it is because of Nirvaan Kapur. Hopelessly in love, she is excited to marry him. But her life changes for the worse when, after marriage, Nirvaan reveals his true agenda behind his hasty courtship and nuptials with her. Thrown in a hellish union with a man who is now a stranger and an enemy, it is a battle of wills. He is not ready to listen to her side of the story and she is determined to make him listen.
But does their relationship, build on a lie, has a chance at survival?
Can Rhea’s dogged determination to save her love story really worth it when Nirvaan has already condemned her?
With misunderstandings, and miscommunication leading this story, this is a spicy, emotional, and passionate love story having complex characters with past demons.
Every Breath You Take by Sapna Bhog Book Review:
I have read and loved Sapna Bhog’s romances like “My Ruin” and “Beneath the Lies“. So, when I heard that she had a new book coming, I jumped to read and review it. Despite having not read any of the previous book in “Sehgal Family & Friends” series, I didn’t feel like I had missed anything. So, even you haven’t read this series, you can easily pick this book to read!
Things I liked:
The plot is simple and even a little outdated. However, the execution is fluid, and well-planned so that it managed to keep me engrossed throughout.
Then the narration is simple, realistic, and had me invested in the lives of the protagonists. I sat hooked and couldn’t keep down the book until I had finished!
Characterisation:
Both Rhea and Nirvaan are strong characters and realistically flawed. So, I easily connected with them and despite my irritation with Nirvaan for not giving his wife a chance to give her side of the story, I still related to his heartbreak and grief.
Rhea had me cheering for her all through. Sapna Bhog’s heroines are always empowered modern women and this is true with this book too. While Rhea, with her supportive family, could have easily divorced an abusive husband, she still decides to give her marriage a chance and refuses to play the victim.
"If I’m going to burn in marriage hell, then you will burn right beside me, husband. And that is a promise.”- #BookQuote & #BookReview Every Breath You Take by Sapna Bhog on #NjkinnysBlog #IARTG #NjkinnyRecommends Share on XIf I’m going to burn in marriage hell, then you will burn right beside me, husband. And that is a promise.”
I laughed like a demented person and thoroughly enjoyed the scenes where she turned the tables on her husband. Nirvaan’s confusion, shock, and reluctant admiration for her are so worth reading about!
"You need to take a chance on me, husband. I may just rock your world.”- #BookQuote & #BookReview Every Breath You Take by Sapna Bhog on #NjkinnysBlog #IARTG #NjkinnyRecommends Share on XYou need to take a chance on me, husband. I may just rock your world.”
I also loved meeting the whole Sehgal clan and sighed in pure delight at their unconditional love for each other. This is a family that stands together no matter what the circumstance.
"Every relationship needs work and commitment…You accept your partner’s wrongs along with their rights…We are, however, perfect to the one who loves us.”- #BookQuote & #BookReview Every Breath You Take by Sapna Bhog on… Share on XEvery relationship needs work and commitment. It’s never easy to be in love because what is love if not acceptance. You accept your partner’s wrongs along with their rights and yet you choose to stay with them, because no one in this world is perfect. We are, however, perfect to the one who loves us.”
So, they have left me so intrigued that I know I will be checking their individual stories now. And also wait to read more stories set in this world.
- Start with the first book, “Take A Chance on Me“
The ending is cleanly wrapped up and will leave you with a smile on your face.
Things that can be better:
While I enjoyed reading this contemporary romance, I still think that the author could go beyond using such outdated and orthodox plots. In the present progressive world, thinking that marriage is a way to capture a woman is something we should grow out of. And with a modern supportive family like the Sehgal’s, this plot line didn’t quite swim. Since this is a fiction story meant for light hearted entertainment, I can give leeway to this but as a modern Indian woman, I don’t agree with using such plots as stories.
Nirvaan’s plan to capture Rhea in a marriage was almost laughable and then his stubbornness to not listen to her had me gritting my teeth in frustration at times.
The suspense, though a clean disclose, was a bit rushed at the end with the solution coming out of the blue. No clues were left for the readers to decipher the trail and solve the mystery.
Conclusion:
All in all, Every Breath You Take by Sapna Bhog is a quick and engaging story about love, family, vengeance, and the importance of communication in relationships. The romance is hot and intense, the emotions run high, and the characters are flawed people who, eventually, learn from their mistakes. With relatable supporting characters, and a main pair who give many spicy and memorable scenes, in all, this is a book that will easily take you away from your daily life and give you a few hours of entertainment.

So, I give 4 out of 5 stars to it, and Njkinny recommends this entertaining love story that starts with deception and hate to all romance lovers above the age of eighteen.
