Daemon’s Wish by Chris Wright Book Review:
In Daemon’s Wish by Chris Wright, the Earth has been restored to its former natural beauty and to accommodate the growing population, humans have colonized other planets like Mars and Jupiter.
It is the year 2410 in New Varanasi on one of Jupiter’s moon, Europa where a serial killer is leaving a gory trail behind him. There is no apparent connection among the victims. No clues are left behind. There is no DNA evidence, and all video surveillance mysteriously malfunction leaving no video evidence too. So, when Noah Peterson, a Criminal Profiler finds himself chasing this elusive serial killer who is perpetrating crimes that look almost the perfect crimes, will he be able to stop this madman before more innocent people fall victim to horrifying deaths?
What I liked in Daemon’s Wish by Chris Wright:
The first thing that attracted me towards this book was the intriguing title and the tagline below it that claimed this book to be a “Scifi Supernatural Suspense”. So, I can easily say that I have never read a book that conforms to these genres and it was a pleasantly engaging experience.
The initial vivid description of Earth’s destruction due to over-exploitation of its resources and pollution broke my heart. Then the dreamy scientifically possible imagery of an Earth rejuvenated by the same mankind leading to a greener, and pollution free planet had me feeling pure joy.
The futuristic world building is intricate and beautifully done. With great attention to detail, the author successfully manages to create a mental picture of this fictional world in the readers’ minds. As you are enjoying the new world on Europa, the gory and gruesome murder will leave you reeling and intrigued to know the what, why and who behind it. The murder scenes are described in great detail and they are grisly and macabre enough to disturb some readers. So reader discretion is required.
Characterization:
The characterization is another admirable aspect of this book. I loved the dimensions and comparison between the characters of the two main Police personnel. While one is a calm and rational Police Detective, the other is impulsive and prone to jumping to conclusions. Then there is the protagonist, Noah Peterson, a Criminal Profiler who has battled migraines and epileptic episodes his whole life but is a brilliant profiler with an impressive crime solving record.
I enjoyed following Noah as he followed the killer more by a mysterious supernatural impulse than any clues left behind that seem to come only to Noah.
So, why this is only happening to him?
What is the mystery behind this strange impulse?
Who is the killer?
Why is he/she killing these particular people?
There are so many questions requiring answers but will Noah get them before it is too late?
Daemon’s Wish by Chris Wright Book Quote:
When the author showed the criminal’s side, despite all his crimes and the horror of what he had done, I cried at the cruel circumstances that made him this way. Bullying and the societal indifference to the victims of bullies will break your heart. And leave you angry at the helplessness such people experience with no help forthcoming.
The cover art has meaning and it will be revealed as you read the book. The end twist will leave the readers shocked. So, I didn’t see this coming and applaud the author for the risk he took.
Things that could have been better:
There are several grammatical errors throughout the book like the misuse of tenses that can be rectified with another round of proofreading.
Conclusion:
All in all, Daemon’s Wish by Chris Wright is an engrossing scifi crime suspense with a supernatural twist to it and an original novel concept that readers will enjoy. So, I give 4 out of 5 stars to it and Njkinny recommends this gripping scifi supernatural suspense to all scifi and mystery/thriller lovers. So, I sat glued to the book throughout, eagerly flipping the pages to know more. Then the mystery behind the murders is so engrossing that it will keep you guessing until the last page. Also there is suspense, action, emotional upheaval and shocking twists in this book that make it a worthy read. So, Go read it now!

Good review. I don’t typically read scifi but your review has piqued my curiosity!
This is the first time I heard about this book. Daemon’s Wish seems very interesting. I’ll read it soon.
This books sound interesting. I am quite fond of sci-fi suspense. So this looks like a book that I would read. However, I am a bit wary of grammatical errors in a printed book. I guess I have to take it with a pinch of salt!
