unexpected promise . . . an everlasting passion.
An
accomplished musician, Dorothea Flammel has refused more proposals
than any London debutante; her only true love is her music. Dory’s
shimmering talent and beauty have long been adored from afar by
Thomas Wheel, an untitled gentleman who can only dream of asking for
the hand of a nobleman’s daughter. But when her father, the
insolvent Lord Flammel, arranges for Dory to marry a lecherous Earl
in order to pay off a debt, she runs to Thomas—and proposes
marriage to him.

Eloping
to Scotland saves Dory from a disastrous fate, but what is for her a
mere marriage of convenience proves more passionate—and more
complex—than either imagined as rumors, scandal, and buried
emotions come to light. And when a vengeful challenge from a drunken
and embittered Lord Flammel puts Thomas’s life on the line, will
the fragile trust between husband and wife be enough to save them
both?

Book Review:
DESPERATE BRIDE by A.S. Fenichel is the first book by the author that I have read and I enjoyed the story. In this book, we meet Dorothea who is an accomplished musician and loves music. The adventure starts when her father arranges her match with a lecherous Earl. She elopes with Thomas Wheel who has secretly loved her from afar but never hoped for her agreement.
The writing is crisp and engaging and had me engaged throughout. While I loved the story, at some places I didnt like Dorothea and her attitude towards Thomas. He is so dedicated towards her and she seemed a bit too indifferent.
The whole historical vibrancy, colourful characters and the whole feel of the settings added to my enjoyment. I look forward to reading more from the author and give this book 4 stars out of 5.
I received the book from the author and the tour organizers and I am very thankful to them. The above is honest and unbiased opinion and in no way influenced.
A.S.
Fenichel adores
writing stories filled with love, passion, desire, magic and maybe a
little mayhem tossed in for good measure. Books have always been her
perfect escape and she still relishes diving into one and staying up
all night to finish a good story. Originally from New York, she grew
up in New Jersey. She now lives in the southwest with her real life
hero, her wonderful husband. When she is not reading or writing she
enjoys cooking, travel, history and puttering in her garden.

Book Review:
I got attracted towards The Reunion because of the blurb which promised an intriguing tale of love, loss and second chances and I wasn’t disappointed. This is the first book by Sara Portman that I have read and I enjoyed her writing style.
The story is fast paced, characters believable and the settings realistic that take you back in time. The fluid writing and well thrown turns had me engaged in the book throughout.
All in all, I enjoyed reading The Reunion by Sara Portman and recommend it to all historical romance lovers. 4 stars out of 5 to it and I look forward to reading more from the author in the future.

Book Review:
Lady Be Good by Heather Hiestand attracted me by the blurb that promised me three of my favourite things in one story: historical romance, espionage and a royal angle. This is my first book by Heather Hiestand and I enjoyed reading it.
This is part of a series and though it can be read as a standalone, I feel readers will understand the characters better if they have read the previous books.
Olga is a strong character and I loved her strength. Douglas is also a vivid character.
The story is fast paced and I sat engrossed throughout. Having read this book, I am eager to read the previous books and look forward to the next one.
4 out of 5 to Lady Be Good by Heather Hiestand, I recommend it to all historical romance lovers.
I received the book from the author and the tour organizers and I am very thankful to them. The above is honest and unbiased opinion and in no way influenced.
Heather
Hiestand was born in Illinois but her family migrated west before she
started school. Since then she has claimed Washington State as home,
except for a few years in California. She wrote her first story at
age seven and went on to major in creative writing at the University
of Washington. Her first published fiction was a mystery short story,
but since then it has been all about the many flavors of romance.
Heather’s first published romance short story was set in the
Victorian period and she continues to return, fascinated by the rapid
changes of the nineteenth century. The author of many novels,
novellas and short stories, she makes her home in a small town with
her husband and son and supposedly works out of her tiny office,
though she mostly writes in her easy chair in the living room.
