Chelsea Smart has seen it all. She braved an unhappy, abusive childhood. She also tried to compensate for all her parents’ indifference by sheltering her sister. But despite all her precautions, she has now lost her sister who is missing and with no idea regarding her whereabouts, Chelsea is prepared to do everything to find her and bring her back. So when she gets a hint that her sister could be in the Silvercrest area, Chelsea is not backing down even if all the force comes out to drive her away.
Erick is a dark wolf and knows the danger of mixing with humans. But tell this to his heart which gives a leap when he sees Chelsea sitting stubbornly in her truck refusing to leave the area. The same reaction is shared by Chelsea who feels that Erick is the sexiest man she has ever seen.
Despite all the initial attraction, Erick knows that she cant stay in his area and Chelsea knows that she wont leave the area until her sister is found.
Exciting blurb and a catchy cover make this book stand apart at first glance. Then when the reader starts reading, the witty dialogues, sensuous scenes and the overall aura of mystery and danger keep the thrill and excitement alive. Managing to hook the reader from the start, Dark Wolf Rising takes the reader into the dark and dangerous world of werewolves and shifters. With a world of their own hidden from the human world, there are illegal and positively harrowing happenings going on which somehow involve Chelsea’s sister.
The author has the flair for writing and she creates her world of dark wolves so beautifully that it instantly transports the reader there. The characterization is admirable and I loved almost all the characters which is rare. The plot is crisp and diligently conceived and executed. The narration is fluid and keeps the reader at the edge of his seat throughout.
Thrilling, engaging with swoon worthy romance, this is a book I enjoyed immensely. My first book by Rhyannoon Byrd, I give Dark Wolf Rising a 4.5 out of 5 and look forward to reading more of her work in the future. This series is now definitely in my TBR. 🙂
