When the director of a local mental health hospital is found murdered and mutilated, Homicide Detective Reed Davies is first on scene. What was done to the body is gruesome. Inexplicable. But Reed is dealt another curveball when he finds that the doctor who discovered the victim is someone Reed is intimately familiar with—a woman with whom he shared one passionate night weeks before.
Dr. Elizabeth Nolan is somehow tangled up in the crime, and even while Reed must now question her possible involvement, he can’t help being drawn to the beautiful, enigmatic woman.
As more bodies appear and the devious killer terrorizes Cincinnati, a shocking connection begins to emerge, one that not only involves Dr. Nolan, but Reed himself. A connection more twisted and elaborate than he can imagine. Now Reed must hunt the monster down, a killer who will stop at nothing to see his diabolical plan to its final, deadly conclusion.

Book Quotes from Where the Truth Lives by Mia Sheridan
I absolutely loved “Where the Blame Lies” and had been eagerly awaiting the sequel. While you can read this sequel, Where the Truth Lives as a standalone, yet I would recommend reading them in order to get the full dose of their awesomeness.
This book is a worthy sequel to its memorable and must-read predecessor and the chills, thrills and shocks are just as effective here too. I loved revisiting Josie and Zack, and thoroughly enjoyed the slow-burn yet ever-after romance between Reed and Elizabeth.
Dr. Elizabeth has experienced heart shattering tragedy in her life that has left its mark on her psyche and the ever present after-effects have left her tethering on the edge of normalcy. When she becomes the first person to discover the mutilated and staged body of her boss, it seems as if she has brought a spotlight on herself. The killer is now after her or is it her horrifying past that has caught up with her?
With mysterious unexplained objects left in her house, break-ins that almost seem a figment of her imagination, sightings that just can’t be true, and smells and sounds that no one else can attest to, I sat on the edge-of-my-seat throughout the book. Shocked, surprised with goosebumps erupting on my skin and chills running down my spine, this book had me spooked.
'Don't deny your past...You made it. You're here...That's the story I really want to hear. Maybe someday you'll tell it to me, because I'd like to believe monsters don't get the final say.'-#BookQuote Where the Truth Lives by… Share on XDon’t deny your past. It’s not your shame to carry. Grieve it and then use it to strengthen others. You made it. You’re here, and I have no idea how, but you are. That’s the story I really want to hear. Maybe someday you’ll tell it to me, because I’d like to believe monsters don’t get the final say.”
Book Quotes from Where the Truth Lives by Mia Sheridan
While reading about the personal trials and tribulations of the protagonists’ lives as well as those of my beloved characters from the previous book, I shed many a tear for them and then surprisingly caught myself feeling sorry and sad for the monster responsible for the killings and torture of so many others. It speaks of the author’s writing prowess that she brought not the protagonists’ but also the villain’s humane side and stories to the fore. She leaves the readers to judge everyone and also show the other side of the evil in the book.
'all people moved between darkness and light into those gray areas between the two...'-#BookQuote Where the Truth Lives by @MSheridanAuthor #BookReview on #NjkinnysBlog #IARTG #NjkinnyRecommends #RomanticSuspense Share on X…all people moved between darkness and light into those gray areas between the two, the only difference between any of them being the degree in which they walked in shadow and how far they traveled into murkier depths. Sometimes an evil man acted as a hero, and sometimes a victim became a tormenter. Criminals exhibited unexpected grace, and honest men had moments of great weakness. There was a strange, terrible, beautiful, complicated universe inside them all where nothing was simply black or white.”

One of the best books of 2020 that I have read, this book and series is not-to-be-missed. A different type of book that speaks about evil, strength, redemption, love, second chances, justice, and happy endings, Njkinny recommends this book strongly to all lovers of gripping romantic thrillers.
