Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer Review:
Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer released in August 2020. I jumped into reading it as soon as I got my copy in my hand that I had already preordered! Being a big fan of the “Twilight series”, this book had been one of my most-anticipated book releases of 2020. Midnight Sun narrates the story of the first book, Twilight from Edward Cullen’s perspective. This is the first time that the author has given him voice and experiencing the events already known to me unfold through his eyes was a novel experience.
It felt like re-uniting with long time friends as I read and met the beloved characters like the Cullen’s, Jacob, Bella’s Dad and so on again. Edward and Bella’s love story was one of my first romances that I read as a teenager. Feeling that same, even a heightened magical feeling of true love yet again is one of the positives of this book. Getting inside Edward’s mind to know him better is something no fan of this series will want to miss. Also through this book, Bella became a better developed character for me. From a heroine who was just meh to someone who had a personality, Stephenie Meyer finally gave her character a multi-dimensional feel.
While I absolutely loved reading this book, there are a few things that had me in a quandary regarding my final verdict on it. Like the story is the same with almost no hidden avenues unfolded to add novelty to the plot. Edward seems to be rambling in many parts that had me skipping the pages. Also some actions while cute for some can have an adverse negative impact on other readers. I won’t disclose the events so you aren’t biased based on my perceptions and are free to make up your own mind about them.
Apart from this, Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer is like a nostalgic trip down memory lane to a story that won hearts of millions worldwide. A series that became a happy part of many youngsters’ lives, I adore Edward and fell in love with him all over again as I read this book. A perfect romance to curl up with, I give Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer 4 out of 5 stars and Njkinny recommends it to all lovers of Twilight saga series and all YA vampire romance lovers.
My life was an unending, unchanging midnight. It must, by necessity, always be midnight for me. So how was it possible that the sun was rising now, in the middle of my midnight?”
