Good Girl, Bad Blood by Holly Jackson Book Review:
Good Girl, Bad Blood by Holly Jackson is the much awaited sequel to “A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder” and another ingenious Young Adult missing persons mystery! Pippa and Ravi are back and this time it is their friend’s older brother who is missing. Before reading this book I recommend that you read the first book so you properly understand the references and characters.
Pippa and Ravi are together and they are so cute! I loved watching their heartwarming care and understanding for each other. Pippa has left her detective days behind and has promised never to go down the crime solver way but when her friend requests her to solve his brother’s missing case, she is reluctant. But when the Police refuse to do anything citing that the victim is an adult, she hesitantly agrees. With a famous podcast in her pocket with thousands of followers, finding the missing boy should be easy except as she begins investigating, she soon realises that nothing as it seems and this time too there is a determined adversary against her.
Holly Jackson excels yet again and gives us a mystery that is as brilliant, even better than the previous one. The character development, plot planning, and mystery progression is as flawless as the first book. I sat glued to my seat throughout following each clue and trying to figure out the real solution.
The setting is the same town with overlapping characters as the first book and while I thought I knew everyone, I was shocked to realize that there is so much unknown still. Pippa is as meticulous as always but this time she is stronger, more daring, and definitely out of her “good girl” persona. The past case has transformed her and we get to see a new avatar.
The author again touches on sensitive issues like social incarceration of the families of criminals and the apparent danger to their lives even when they are innocent. The restricting laws are also a focal point as we get to see how the law makes the Police refuse to take up a missing case as priority and is forced to give precedence to certain other types of cases.
What do you do when the things that are supposed to protect you, fail you like that”

Conclusion:
I loved this mystery that had me entertained throughout and left me wanting more. I am eagerly awaiting the next part and can’t stop recommending this YA mystery to everyone. So, 5 out of 5 super shiny stars to Good Girl, Bad Blood by Holly Jackson. Njkinny recommends that you read this book and gift it to your loved ones. A not-to-be-missed mystery that is definitely one of the best books of 2020.
