Sheena and Vinayak are doctors working in the same dental institute, but their paths would never have crossed if Sheena’s deception hadn’t woven a web of lies in which Vinayak became entangled. He may have his own reasons for letting her make believe go on but getting his heart involved is not on the agenda.
From a rajputana estate to a villa on an Indian Ocean island, join them in a journey of tangled deceit mixed with unwilling attraction in this page-turning romcom.
Teething Troubles of Love by Summerita Rhayne Book Review:
Sheena lies about her engagement to Dr. Vinayak without his knowledge to get rid of a clingy ex. When the news travels to her fake fiance, she is faced with an angry man except the drama is just beginning. With her melodramatic mother and his much-too proper mother thrown in the mix, chaos ensues and one lie makes way for many others. Caught in the web of their own lies and deceit, Sheena and Vinayak are forced to play the love-struck couple but in between faking and keeping everyone happy, they fall in love!
A funny, entertaining, and heartfelt romcom, I adored reading Teething Troubles of Love by Summerita Rhayne and sat engrossed until the very end. The realistic portrayal of the Indian marriage scene, the dramatics of Indian mothers worried about their unmarried daughters, and the unnecessary and often times damaging match making of relatives, are so beautifully portrayed in this book. The demeaning outlook towards unmarried women irrespective of their other achievements in life by society is also touched in this story. I empathized with Sheena when her family targeted her for not marrying every time she visited them, and then the shallow remarks by her sister regarding her marriage and marriage in general had me seeing red. This is a sad reality even in this modern age and one that I hope people get over soon.
The suspense behind Sheena’s father had me all intrigued and even angry on her mother’s behalf. The expectations and societal pressure over wives and how they should behave is another dark reality touched in this book. Kudos to the author for bringing these social stigmas to the fore in her story.
Sheena and Vinayak’s chemistry is hot and their romance was so heartwarming. Both had faults and they accepted each other irrespective of them which was so sweet.
The story flowed easy and kept me hooked. I loved following the characters and was left with a goofy smile on my face at the end.
Then the only thing that left me dissatisfied was Sheena’s father’s angle. No reasoning is given for his past actions and no closure given for the injustice done by him towards his family, especially Sheena. Her sister was also a shallow character I didn’t particularly understand and like.
All in all, Teething Troubles of Love by Summerita Rhayne is a funny, entertaining, and memorable romantic comedy that will keep you glued to your seat throughout and then leave you happily satisfied. The butterflies in your stomach and the quickening of your heart whenever Vinayak comes on the scene is totally free!
So, 4.5 out of 5 stars to this heartwarming, clean romance and Njkinny recommends it to everyone. Had her father’s angle been given closure this would have been a 5 star rated book by me. But for now, I am taking away a half star. Definitely one of the Best Books of 2020 that I have read, go read this interesting Desi romance with a headstrong heroine who has a tendency to lie, and a broody hero who just happens to be a royal!
