The House at Home

Book Review:
The House at Homecoming Cove by Ginny Baird had me intrigued right from the start. I loved the cozy sounding title with a catchy cover and when I read the blurb, I just knew I had to read the book.

Luckily, Ginny invited me to read and review her book before release and I jumped at the chance!

The House at Homecoming Cove is the story of a New York based music composer, Melissa who has rents a century old farmhouse on the Eastern Virginia Shore to get away from her chaotic city life and make some music. However, as soon as she arrives mysterious things start happening around her along with the daja vu feeling she gets when she meets the handsome groundskeeper, Stone Thomas!

Amidst the paranormal and very mysterious events, a love also blooms between these two but to get a happily-ever-after, not only do they have to solve their personal issues but also solve the mystery of the house which has its own century old legend.

I absolutely adored this book. The haunting music along with the sensual and heart soothing music running from Melissa’s fingers had me feeling relaxed as well as wishing to visit the farmhouse with its thrilling history and beautiful location. The author creates a magical effect with her words and I could just visualize the pier with the vast ocean, the rose gardens, the creaky and yet full of character house that had once housed people who are now remembered by legends by the people of the town. With the suspicion of ghosts residing in the house, no one has lived for long here and yet the homely feeling the heroine got not only warmed my own heart but made me feel like I was there, feeling and touching every nook and corner of the house.

The plot is well conceived and crisply executed and nowhere did the story lag. The pace is steady and the twists and turns are well planned. I was kept engrossed in the story right till the end and just loved Melissa and Stone.

Their own stories are beautifully meshed with the main mystery and the connection is admirably brought out by Ginny. Not only is she able to capture each and every shift in the air in accordance to the mystery but also in the moods of the characters. The romance is intense, heartfelt and sensual and all this is achieved without throwing any sexual scenes in the book. Bravo to the author!

I enjoyed reading about the sea stories, had goosebumps from the ghostly events and then fell in love with love watching the protagonists cautiously fall in love. 🙂

Though part of a series, the story is a standalone and it is not required to have read the preceding books here. I loved this book so much that I have bought myself the previous two books and will be sharing my review soon.

All in all, The House at Homecoming Cove is a lovely and very interesting paranormal story with a good dose of romance, a great story and an expert execution that kept the suspense alive till the end. Must read and recommended to everyone, I loved the book! 4.5 out of 5 to it! I enjoy Ginny’s writing and recommend the author to everyone.

I received an ARC from the author and I am very thankful to her. The above review is my honest and unbiased opinion and in no way influenced.
