Book Review:
Langston’s Daughters first attracted me when I saw the cover with its beautiful background and a mysterious woman who is facing the other side. Then when I read the blurb, I knew I had to read the book!
Juliette Harper is a new author for me so I started out with the book not having any previous impressions about the author. The book narrates the story of three sisters who are back home after their tyrannical father commits suicide. Faced with his unusual last terms, the new responsibilities and the mystery surrounding his death, these three women are faced with choices that will change their lives forever.
I loved the three heroines in this book. They are strong, well fleshed out characters that make an impression on the readers’ minds. I loved Kate the most with her responsible nature and her mother like caring attitude towards her other sisters.
The author writes in a simple and engaging manner and brings out vivid images of the open and vast expanses of land, the wild yet breathtaking beauty of Texas and the family drama with suspense, mystery and a little romance, expertly in her book. The story plays out like a movie and had me transported to the world described in the book. The author team is very talented and I will be sure to check out their future work. All the best to them! 🙂
This was a quick read and though it starts out a bit slow, had me engrossed until the very end. An afternoon was well-spent reading this story and now am eager to read the next book in the series, Baxter’s Draw. 4 out of 5 to Langston’s Daughters and recommended to everyone.
I received the book from the authors and the tour organizers and am very thankful to them. The above review is my honest and unbiased opinion and in no way influenced.
About the Author:
Juliette Harper is the pen name used by the writing team of
Patricia Pauletti and Rana K. Williamson. Like the characters of their debut series, The Lockwood Legacy, Juliette is a merging of their creative energies.
Pauletti, an Easterner of Italian descent, is an accomplished musician with an eye for art and design. Williamson, a Texan from a long line of hardheaded Scots, knows the world of the Lockwoods like the back of her hand.
“We decided to write under a pen name because neither one of us by ourselves could have created Kate, Jenny, Mandy, and their world,” says Pauletti. “Juliette is a little bit of us both. We want to be her when we grow up.”
“Patti teases me that I just don’t want to own up to writing a book with romance in it,” Williamson adds, “but that’s not true. I like the Lockwood women and the way they tackle everything life throws at them. And before we’re done, they’ll be ducking a lot. I imagine coming into the office every day and saying, ‘Okay Juliette, what’s going to happen now?’ She tells us, and we get it down on paper.”

Thank you so much for reviewing the book. I'm glad you enjoyed it, and hope you like Baxter's Draw. Since working with the cover designer is my other "favorite part" of all of this after the actual writing, I was particularly pleased that you were attracted to the Langston's Daughters cover. The woman turned away says so much once you know more about the girls and their story.
Welcome Juliette and yeah the cover is so intriguing. Looking forward to starting on the next book 🙂

Thank you for sharing! I hadn't heard of this series before but it sounds amazing! I read some of the other reviews on Goodreads and the mystery around Langston Lockwood's death sounds super intriguing! Thank you for the giveaway chance!

This sounds like a wonderful portrayal of family with the problems and troubled relationships that go along with it. I really like the covers and I think the cover for Langston's Daughters represents turning your back on family but eventually you have to turn back and face problems and hopefully work through them. I'm very interested in reading books written by a team of authors! Thank you for the contest.

Sounds like an interesting family journey for the three daughters who clearly did not have a close relationship with the Dad.
